Connecting your BTR1 ADVANCED X is easy! Follow these steps:
Activate pairing mode:
• Turn on the intercom by pressing the Control button (large left button) and the Down button together for 3 seconds.
• Press and hold the Volume + button for five seconds.
• The LEDs will flash red and blue.
Pair your device:
• On your phone, motorcycle screen, or GPS, go to the Bluetooth settings and look for "BTR1 ADVANCED X."
• Click to connect and enter the code 0000 if prompted.
• The blue light will flash to confirm the connection.
Done! Your intercom is ready to use.
Helpful tips:
• If your motorcycle has a screen, connect your phone to the screen first, then the intercom to the screen. IMPORTANT: The phone and intercom must not be directly connected to each other in this setup.
• To connect a GPS (mono audio), repeat the steps using the Volume - button. You can even share GPS directions via intercom using the “Mono Audio Relay” option in the Midland Connect App.
You can connect:
• Up to 3 intercoms: Communicate with other Midland, OBI, or compatible intercoms.
• Up to 2 Bluetooth devices: Such as your phone, TFT motorcycle display, or a GPS.
Important:
• Pairing a new Bluetooth device will replace the previous one.
• For optimal use, pair your GPS as the second Bluetooth device (via Volume - button for mono audio) so you can still use your phone for calls and music.
The BTR1 ADVANCED X is compatible with intercoms from any brand. Here’s how:
Midland, Cardo, and some Sena models:
1. Choose a button:
a. Turn on the intercom by pressing the Control and Down buttons for 3 seconds.
b. Choose one of the three BTR1 ADVANCED X buttons.
c. Press and hold it for 7 seconds until the red and blue lights flash.
2. Prepare the other intercom:
a. Put it in Intercom pairing mode (check its manual).
3. Confirm pairing:
a. The blue light on the BTR1 ADVANCED X will confirm a successful connection.
Other brands:
• Same procedure, but put the other intercom into phone pairing mode instead.
Note: Pairing a new intercom to the same button will erase the previous one.
One-to-one intercom:
• Double-click the button assigned to a specific intercom.
• Speak freely.
• To end, double-click the same button again.
You can also use your voice (VOX) to start an intercom if the intercom is paired to the Control button.
Conference mode (group talk):
• Start with one intercom (double-click the button).
• Then double-click another button to add a second intercom to the group.
• To disconnect, double-click the same button(s) again.
Each person in the group can add another intercom, forming a chain. Recommended for up to 4–6 people.
• You can’t play music during a conference, but you’ll still receive phone calls.
• For best results, maintain the chain order during the ride (e.g., 1 > 2 > 3 > 4).
Keeping your intercom updated ensures the best performance:
1. Download the update software:
a. Visit the “UPDATE” section on the official website.
2. Connect to your computer:
a. Use the USB charging cable to connect the intercom.
b. Launch the BTUpdater software and follow the instructions on screen.
Tips:
• Ensure your computer has an internet connection.
• Do not disconnect the intercom during the update.
VOX allows you to answer calls or start an intercom conversation using your voice—no buttons needed.
• VOX is enabled by default.
• To disable it: Hold Control + Volume + for 3 seconds until the voice prompt confirms it (e.g., “VOX Off”).
• Repeat the process to enable it again.
To adjust VOX sensitivity (if it triggers too easily or not at all), use the Midland Connect App.
Note: VOX auto-closes the intercom after 60 seconds of silence, and does not work during a phone call or if intercom is already active.
1. Download the app:
a. Search for "Midland Connect" on the App Store or Google Play.
2. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
3. Pair your intercom (especially needed for Android):
a. Press Control + Down for 3 seconds to turn on.
b. Hold Volume + for 5 seconds (LEDs flash red and blue).
c. Select BTR1 ADVANCED X in your phone’s Bluetooth list (PIN: 0000 if required).
4. Open the app and connect:
a. The app should detect the device and prompt for connection.
b. Use the app to adjust settings like VOX sensitivity, volume, and more.
Check your speaker positioning:
• Make sure they align properly with your ears inside the helmet.
• For testing, place the speakers directly on your ears outside the helmet—if the sound improves, it’s a positioning issue.
Update the device using BTUpdater (see step 5). You can choose the language during the update process.
